Match You Hair Colour To Your Skin Tone

12th April 2015
Selecting a new hair colour can be one of the most exciting choices you make when coming to visit Mosaic and our experienced team are on hand to provide you with the very best, professional advice.

As part of our training in colour, we are taught how to assess our clients’ skin tone to help them choose the perfect colour which will create a wonderful finished hairstyle. Selecting the most appropriate colour will make the skin appear clearer and brighter; on the other hand the wrong colour can make the skin appear sallow and dull.

We have a new consultation tool which allows us to accurately determine your skin tone. A warm skin tone will suit more peachy colours, like ‘peaches and cream’; whereas cool tones favour more pinky colours – ‘strawberries and cream.’ Our extensive range of colours means we are able to tailor the perfect shade, with a tailor-made depth, tone and finish, for each individual.

In simple terms hair colours are made up of two elements – the level and the shade. The level runs from the palest blonde through to jet black. At each level there are shades or pigments. Dark hair will contain more red shades compared with fair hair which will have more golden pigments. In between, there are shades containing a combination of red and yellow pigments in varying proportions.

As you might expect there are exceptions to these rules of thumb and it is for this reason that we always spend a great deal of time during our colour consultations, ensuring that you have the perfect hair colour choice.
