Balayage at Mosaic Hair Studio

What is Balayage?

Balayage is one of the most popular hair colour requests made by our clients here at Mosaic Hair Studio.

Balayage is a French word meaning to sweep or to paint. ‘It’s a freehand hair colouring technique that gives a really blended natural look with no harsh or obvious regrowth lines,’ advises royal and celebrity hairdresser, Richard Ward.

When translated from French, Balayage means to sweep or to paint. The Balayage style gives your hair a sun-kissed natural look. This is often similar to what nature gives us as children, but with a softer look and less noticeable growth. The fundamental idea behind Balayage is essentially less is more when creating a natural, multi-tonal finish. Hairdressers and stylists will use patches of light and shade which creates many dimensions to the colour. Balayage is great if you don't want a complete change of hair colour but still want a fresh new look.
