With the award season already upon us and the Oscars right around the corner, now is the perfect time to celebrate some of the most famous hairstyles in movie history.

1. Jean Seberg in Breathless

Released in 1960, Breathless is a film about a small-time thief who has an altercation with a policeman that ends badly. Now on the run from the authorities, he passionately tries to persuade a young hip American (Jean Seberg) to escape to Italy with him. Following the release of this film, there was an unprecedented rise of gamine and boys close crops.

2. Brigitte Bardot in Contempt

Contempt is a 1963 French drama starring Brigitte Bardot. The film is centred around screenwriter Paul Javal and his marriage to Camille (Brigitte Bardot), which, begins to disintegrate when Camille 's relationship with a movie producer heats up. With maximum volume, texture and the headband, this was the original bombshell hair.

3. Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction

Based on a series of characters that intertwine into different tales of violence and redemption. Uma Thurman's character Mia Wallace is synonymous with Tarantino's cult classic for her jet black bob and unique dance moves.


4. Nicole Kidman in Days of Thunder

In Days of Thunder, Tom Cruise stars as a young hot-shot car driver who is given the chance to compete at the very top level of NASCAR racing. Nicole Kidman plays a doctor who nurses Tom Cruise's character back to health following a near-fatal accident. Of course, romance ensues but Nicole Kidman's long strawberry blonde curls bouncing in the wind on the racetrack will be forever remembered.
